ISRO Develops Radar for Joint NASA Mission NISAR

 

NASA and ISRO's NISAR space mission launch by January 2023, .The Indian Space Research Organization (SRO) has shipped its satellite components to NASA'S Jet Propulsion Labaratory for a joint satellite mission known as NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR). This joint mission, which is under development aims to provide earth observation data, that would help in the better management of natural resources and hazards. It is also meant to help scientists study the extent and pace of climate change.


Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has completed development of a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capable of producing extremely high-resolution images for a joint earth observation satellite mission with the U.S. space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Aperture Radar (NISAR).
With a total cost estimated at US$I.5 billion, NISAR is likely to be the world's most expensive Earth-imaging satellite.
ISRO's share of the project cost is about R788 crore (US$I10 million), and NASA's share is about US$808 million.
NISAR will be the first satellite mission to use two different radar frequencies (L-band and S-band) to measure changes in our planet's surface less than a centimetre across NASA is providing the mission's L-band SAR, a high-rate communication subsystem for science data, GPS receivers, a solid-state recorder and payload data subsystem.


The 5854 kg satellite is based on the new I-6K Bus and carry 40 transponders in the Ku-band and Ka-band frequencies (32 Ka x Ku-Band Forward Link Transponders and 8 Ku * Ka band Return Link Transponders), which are capable of providing up to l6 Gbit/s throughput. GSAT-I l is India's heaviest satellite.

 जनवरी 2023 तक नासा और इसरो के NISAR अंतरिक्ष मिशन का शुभारंभ। भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (SRO) ने NASA-ISRO सिंथेटिक एपर्चर रडार (NISAR) नामक एक संयुक्त उपग्रह मिशन के लिए अपने उपग्रह घटकों को NASA'S Jet Propulsion Labaratory पर भेज दिया है।  यह संयुक्त मिशन, जो विकास के अंतर्गत है, पृथ्वी अवलोकन डेटा प्रदान करना है, जो प्राकृतिक संसाधनों और खतरों के बेहतर प्रबंधन में मदद करेगा।  यह वैज्ञानिकों को जलवायु परिवर्तन की सीमा और गति का अध्ययन करने में मदद करने के लिए भी है।
