Bhutan. SC Justice and Pemagatshel Judge Detained in Alleged Conspiracy COSG

A Thimphu court is preparing for the opening of a conspiracy trial.

Trial is agains hr prominent officials accused of plotting to topple and take over top jobs in the SC and the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA).

All three were denied bail by the Thimphu Court on February 17, and are due to face trial, expected to begin this week.

Arrested officials

Supreme Court Judge Kuenlay Tshering,

• Associate Justice Yeshey Dorji and



Royal Body Guard (RBC) Commandant Brigadier Thinley Tobgye face several charges, including "abetting mutiny, nepotism and favouritism, misappropriation of RBG funds and fictitious documents to secure loans".

Ms. wangmo was arrested in 2019 on charges of "seditious allegations", and continues to be held in custody, facing 11 charges of criminal conspiracy in the latest case.

The arrests in February are believed to have come as a result of her interrogation.

Giving a tailed accoun f the enquiry in The Bhutanese newspaper, Editor enzing Lan sam said that according to their testimonies,

the three officials said they had been duped by Ms. Wangmo into thinking their actions were in line with the wishes of some "higher authorities" in Bhutan.
"One familiar technique reported by many who came in touch with her was that she would first show a picture taken with the higher authority followed by dropping the names of the higher authority to indicate closeness. Then later suddenly in the middle of a conversation she would pretend to get a call from the authority and again claim the higher authority was calling her," while the call actually came from a family member, Mr. Lamsang wrote.

According to the key source it all started many years ago when Khandu Wangmo allegedly approached the Chief Operations Officer Lt Gen Batoo Tshering with some personal issues for which the COO refused help. However, whatever the exact reason, Khandu Wangmo allegedly nursed a personal grudge against the COO for many years.

एक थिम्पू अदालत एक साजिश की सुनवाई के उद्घाटन की तैयारी कर रही है।

मुकदमे की साजिश रचने और SC और रॉयल भूटान आर्मी (RBA) में शीर्ष नौकरियां लेने के आरोपी ट्रायल फिर से प्रमुख अधिकारी हैं।

तीनों को 17 फरवरी को थिम्पू कोर्ट द्वारा जमानत से वंचित कर दिया गया था, और इस मुकदमे की सुनवाई के कारण, इस सप्ताह शुरू होने की उम्मीद है।

 सुश्री वांगमो को 2019 में "देशद्रोही आरोपों" के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया था, और नवीनतम मामले में आपराधिक साजिश के 11 आरोपों का सामना करते हुए, हिरासत में रखा जाना जारी है।

माना जाता है कि फरवरी में गिरफ्तारियां उसके पूछताछ के परिणामस्वरूप हुई हैं।

तीनों अधिकारियों ने कहा कि उन्हें सुश्री वांग्मो द्वारा यह सोचकर धोखा दिया गया था कि उनके कार्य भूटान के कुछ "उच्च अधिकारियों" की इच्छा के अनुरूप थे।
